Coastal Clean-up Day

Coastal Cleanup Day

WHEN: Saturday, September 17
WHERE: starts at Killer's Surf Spot, aka Fig Tree parking lot

The Cayucos Land Conservancy once again hosted the annual Estero Bluffs Clean-up Day in coordination with ECOSLO and the California Coastal Commission.

MANY THANKS TO OUR 32 VOLUNTEERS! Starting at Killer's Surf spot (Fig Tree Parking area), they spread out over the four mile stretch from Ocean Ave. to Villa Creek. All told, they picked up and disposed of 151 pounds of trash, most of which had blown in from the highway.

Workers counted:

  • 276 cigarette butts,
  • 108 plastic utensils,
  • 117 beverage cans,
  • 7 yards of rope,
  • a toilet plunger,
  • 395 little pieces of plastic, glass and foam that would have been eaten by birds
  • and much more.

Lucia Martinez of Atascadero won The "Bring Your Own Bag, Bucket or Gloves Raffle" prize: a generous gift card to Schooner's Wharf.

THANKS, EVERYONE, FOR YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT.
NEXT YEAR'S CLEANUP WILL BE SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2017.  SEE YOU THERE!
